Think Play Learn
Company: Approach

Carson Learning Service's approach to building eLearning courseware includes:

  • a comprehensive content analysis process that links critical course principles, concepts, and facts with operating procedures and applications to customer issues.
  • rapid, effective instructional design.
  • design for performance — we believe people learn more when they are engaged, interested, and motivated.

In addition, all our courses are designed for:

  • scalability — future capacity needs are anticipated in the course now.
  • incremental evolution — each learning program can include modules that evolve through learner experience. In addition, the use of learning activities generates reports on learner interest and performance that guide development of future program versions.

Our approach includes the following:

Customer-Driven

The needs of the client are paramount. We work closely with the client in all phases of development to ensure that no part of the project will progress too far without benefit of client validation, feedback, and continuous improvement.

Learner-Driven

The needs of the learner provide the perspective through which all content must be organized and transferred. Our design goal is to develop a learning tool that meets the most critical needs of whoever is consuming the learning, whether that is the client's employees, customers, or other end-users.

Keep it Simple

Learning content, instructional design and instructional media must all be extremely intuitive and easy to use.

Keep it Fun

Use interactive eLearning games to excite and engage the learner. Allow the learner to make choices and use their time in a way they feel is valuable, respectful of their bandwidth, and creates optimism about online learning. They should walk away from any lesson eager to return to complete the next lesson.

Parallel Process

To minimize cost and accelerate completion, organize the content analysis, design, development, and programming processes so that as much work as possible can occur simultaneously.

Reuse Intellectual Property (IP)

To minimize cost and accelerate completion, reuse as many games, simulations, media assets, and user interface elements as appropriate.

Develop Iteratively and Incrementally

To ensure that project expectations will be realistic, we use an industry standard "iterative and incremental" design process that defines what priority eLearning use cases can be completed by what deadlines.
